No, it wasn’t an easy ride! It took us 4 days, 3 superheated night long discussions and finally a recap of the B-2 Spirit bomber documentary, to finally arrive at this background picture. Infact the very existence of the blog was in danger in our second heated discussion in which Nikhil Pareek (Ronaldo) & I had almost decided to part ways accusing each other of indulging in a silly word play and having completely biased views! I never anticipated that something as trivial as changing the background of the blog would be a matter of such an intense consideration.
But as a matter of fact, let me tell you that it was neither Ronaldo nor me who initiated the thought for a different picture. It was all planted by Nikhil Kumar. Ronaldo & Nikhil had been to the recent air show held at Yelahanka Air Force Base, Bangalore. While Ronaldo was more interested in the outdoor action, Nikhil was mostly checking out the stuff housed in the interiors for display. Nikhil is a walking brand ambassador of our blog. I think half his talk is filled with “Hey man, the Israelis are going nuts over our stuff..they really love it”, “Well, we have some great fan following in Australia” ,“Dude I want to get this stuff noticed in northern Europe” and it goes on and on. So, yes you must have got a slight hint of what I am about to say. Nikhil was presenting our blog to the presenters of the defence equipment at the venue. He met this person called Mikhail from Russia who was strolling near the Sukhoi booth. Mikhail was quite impressed by our blog (well what else can you expect, when you have someone like Nikhil, presenting the stuff & knows how to hit the right nerve of the person he is presenting to) except for the background. He suggested having something which can captivate ones attention and that’s how the quest for the new background took lift. Though Nikhil came up with this idea, it was Ronaldo & I who took it more seriously than anything else. Different views were voiced, criticized to the core, but the result – NAUGHT!
The only way out, was by getting something of common interest. The documentary on B-2 Spirit bomber was one of OUR favourites. After a recap, the bomber sat right on the front page of our blog!
This reminds me of the phrase “The show must go on”
And here is my favorite poem by Robert Frost.
STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Robert Frost
Good man..that was inspiring!
